Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio: Kaepernick Makes ‘Sense’ With Tennessee Titans

With Tennessee Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota hobbled with a hamstring injury, Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio suggested the team should turn to Colin Kaepernick.

Florio reasoned that Kaepernick “makes so much more sense” than Titans backup Matt Cassell because he is a mobile quarterback like Mariota.

“Kaepernick should have been there all along,” Florio said Tuesday on the “Dan Patrick Show.”

Host Dan Patrick brought up the potential backlash from President Trump and his supporters in Tennessee, but Florio does not see that as an issue because the Titans are in win-now mode.

“After everything that’s happened over the last 11 days though with this, how does it get worse at this point?” he asked. “It’s already Trump versus the NFL and that’s subsided for obvious reasons the past couple of days, but at some point, it’s going to come back again.”

He added, “Yes, you want to have your fans show up and you want them to support the team, but you ultimately want to win games. And that’s the way to secure long-term support, national following, win football games, and the Titans are kind of on the cusp of that.”
