VA Gov. Northam: Trump Is ‘Delusional’ to Say States Have Enough Testing

Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union,” Gov. Ralph Northam (D-VA) said President Donald Trump was “delusional” to say there were enough coronavirus tests.

Host Jake Tapper asked, “The president and vice president have been saying over the past few days that the U.S. has enough testing capacity for states to begin opening back up if you feel you’re ready to go into phase one. Is that the case in Virginia? Do you have enough tests to do the tests you need to do?”

Northam said, “Jake, that’s just delusional to be making statements like that. We have been fighting every day for PPE, and we’ve got some supplies now coming in. We’ve been fighting for testing. It’s not a straightforward test. We don’t even have enough swabs, believe it or not, and we’re ramping that up. But for the national level to say we have what we need, and really to have no guidance to the state levels is just irresponsible because we’re not there yet.”
