'Bible' Premiere Scores Biggest Cable Ratings of 2013

A miniseries based on the most popular book of all time scored the kind of ratings that may make Hollywood executives reassess concerns over Christian-themed content.

The Bible, produced by Mark Burnett and Roma Downey, scored 13.1 million viewers and 4.6 million adults 25-54 during last night’s premiere. The 10-hour miniseries became the new year’s no.1 cable entertainment telecast.

The news bodes well not just for The History Channel but for other faith-based projects in the Hollywood pipeline.

Noah, starring Russell Crowe, is set to hit theaters next year, and Steven Spielberg has been connected to a Moses movie in recent weeks.
