Veteran actor Danny Trejo swooped in to rescue a baby in the Sylmar neighborhood of Los Angeles on Wednesday after two cars collided, one of them overturning.
Trejo, who’s known for his iconic roll as Machete in Robert Rodriguez’s action film series, says he saw one woman apparently not paying attention when she ran a red light. Two cars collided. One flipped over and Trejo sprung into action.
“There was a baby inside and a grandma,” Trejo told ABC7 of what he saw when he approached the overturned car. “I pulled the baby out the other side,” said Trejo, who was helped by a woman who also witness the crash. The baby was trapped, the actor said, and the woman, Monica Johnson, crawled in and unbuckled the baby from its seat.

“I helped rescue a baby after driver ran red light, causing 2-car crash in Sylmar,” Trejo caption an instagram video showing him detail his role in the rescue.
“And the only thing that saved that little kid was his car seat, honest to God,” said Trejo, who told local reporters that he comforted the baby while firefighters worked to rescue his mother from the wrecked car.
