Starting in late June, the 72-story U.S. Bank Tower in downtown Los Angeles will give thrill-seekers the chance to ride in an enclosed glass slide outside the building from the 70th to the 69th floor.
The building, the tallest on the West Coast, will charge sliders $8 for the privilege of riding the slide 1,000 feet above the ground, according to the Los Angeles Times. The owners of the tower, OUE Ltd, spent $50 million to add amenities, including a bar, an observation deck with a 360-degree view, and the Skyslide, la.curbed.com reported.
The slide will be made of glass four inches thick.
The new attractions on the top floors, called OUE Skyspace L.A., will charge $25 for visitors. Participants will be able to see as far as San Fernando Valley and Santa Catalina Island.
The U.S. Bank Tower’s slide is roughly 350 feet lower than the Ledge at the Willis Tower in Chicago, where four glass-floored balconies extend over four feet from the Skydeck, 1,353 feet from the ground.
The Willis Tower, formerly known as the Sears Tower, is the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere.
