The Duke of Cambridge has completed the first Royal visit to Israel and the West Bank by revealing he is personally determined to bring peace to the Middle East.

According to the Sunday Mirror, the source claimed Prince William told aides: “This is the start of something new. I will forever honour my commitments to the people I have met.”

An insider quoted by the newspaper added: “The politicians who affect this younger generation’s lives may only be in office for five, 10 or 20 years – but William knows his duty is for life.”

The Duke of Cambridge described his trip to the West Bank as a “very powerful one” during a speech at the British Consulate General in Jerusalem at the conclusion of the tour, assuring Palestinians “you have not been forgotten”.

The Duke had meetings with Israeli President Reuven Rivlin and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu along with his wife Sara in Jerusalem during the visit. He also met with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas Abbas who appealed to the prince and the British people to support the Palestinians.

At a more personal level, Prince William made a poignant pilgrimage to the final resting place in Jerusalem of his great-grandmother, Princess Alice, famed for saving a Jewish family from the Holocaust.

Royal protocol forbids the British Royal Family from ever taking a political stance, but the nature of the revelations in the Mirror shows that Prince William is happy to have his feelings known.

The prince’s trip was the first official visit by a member of the Royal Family since the establishment of the State of Israel in 1948.
