Nov. 24 (UPI) — The White House on Monday welcomed its official Christmas tree to the executive mansion for the 2025 holiday season.

First lady Melania Trump greeted a 25-foot concolor fir tree in the afternoon on the front steps of the White House North Portico, and it is to be placed in its traditional spot in the Blue Room.

The tree arrived via Korson’s Tree Farms in Michigan, according to the White House.

Korson’s was the first Michigan tree farm since 1985 to be recipient of the Grand Champion Growers title from the National Christmas Tree Association, which it won in July.

The winner of the yearly contest has provided the first family with the official White House Christmas tree for nearly six decades.

In September, it was chosen by the White House superintendent of grounds, Dale Haney.

It will be the Trump family’s first holiday season back in the White House since the president lost his 2020 re-election bid in 2020.

Last year’s 35-foot-tall red spruce Christmas tree, the final one in the four-year term under then-U.S. President Joe Biden, hailed from the George Washington and Jefferson National Forests in Virginia.

Monday’s ceremony means Melania Trump will soon unveil the 2025 barrage of decorations she picked for the holiday occasion.

The maskless first lady greeted a more than 18-foot Fraser fir from Dan and Bryan Trees in the Washington, D.C., area as the COVID-19 pandemic raged during the first Trump presidency.

It was followed days later by the Trump White House decorations that included numerous Christmas trees bedecked with lights and red ornaments in the Grand Foyer, the East Room and elsewhere in the historic mansion.
