Nov. 23 (UPI) — Elon Musk’s social media company X on Friday rolled out a new feature that shows where accounts are based, which has inadvertently unmasked a number of MAGA accounts as foreign-based.

Democratic influencer Harry Sisson shared a thread in which he posted screenshots of the new location data for several major MAGA accounts, beginning with the account Red Pilled Nurse — whose account is based in Europe.

An account dedicated to commentary on White House “border czar” Tom Homan showed that it, too, was based in Europe while the account “MAGA Nadine” was shown to be based in Morocco.

Other countries represented in Sisson’s analysis include Bangladesh, Nigeria, Macedonia, and Russia.

Additional accounts reviewed by UPI, such as “Dark Maga,” with more than 15,000 followers, were based in countries including Thailand and India.

Another left-wing influencer, Micah Erfan, called the release of the “About this Account” feature “total Armageddon for the online right.”

Nikita Bier, the platform’s head of product, had heralded the feature as “an important first step to securing the integrity of the global town square” as the feature rolled out.

He later acknowledged that there were “a few rough edges” that the company would resolve by Tuesday.

“If any data is incorrect, it will be updated periodically based on best available information,” Bier said. “This happens on a delayed and randomized schedule to preserve privacy.”
