Kurtz: Carville’s Hillary Defense ‘Farcical’

Fox News Media Analyst Howard Kurtz dismissed James Carville’s defense of Hillary Clinton as “farcical” on Monday’s “Kelly File” on the Fox News Channel.

Kurtz began by criticizing Clinton saying silent while sending out her “attack dog” James Carville, then stated “the [argument] that the New York Times and the rest of the mainstream media are carrying the Republicans’ water here is just farcical. Now, the story may have started with a leak from Trey Gowdy’s Benghazi Committee, but what journalists do is they check out leads and tips, and they try to confirm it. Everything the Times reported about Hillary Clinton using a private e-mail server — private e-mail account and the AP reporting on the personal server is fact. It’s not spin. It’s not right-wing talking points.”

Kurtz added of Carville, “he doesn’t do this on his own. This is Team Clinton trying out new attack lines, make the press — blame the messenger, make the press the story. It’s clearly not going to work. I think it’s just going to tick off journalists who are trying to get both sides here, but not getting very many answers, certainly not from the Clinton camp and not much from the State Department as well.”
