The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee is targeting Republicans in key congressional districts with Spanish-language robocalls decrying their recent vote against encouraging the Pentagon to consider allowing illegal immigrants to serve in the military.

Starting Thursday, DCCC will begin targeting Spanish-speaking households in districts represented by GOP Reps. Barbara Comstock (VA-10), Will Hurd (TX-23), Joe Heck (NV-03), Cresent Hardy (NV-04), and Steve Knight (CA-25).

The calls are in reference to the House’s 221 – 202 vote to remove language from the NDAA that would have encouraged the Pentagon to consider allowing illegal immigrants granted executive amnesty — via Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA)— to enlist.

According to the DCCC, the vote was the work of “immigration extremists” in the Republican Party and the five lawmakers being targeted were complicit by voting in favor of the language’s removal.

The robocalls are Spanish, however the DCCC provided an English translation:

This is XX calling from the DCCC. Recently, Republicans in Congress and Joe Heck voted to deny children brought to the U.S. through no fault of their own – or “DREAMers” – a chance to serve in our nation’s military.

Honorable young men and women that want to volunteer to risk their lives for our country’s safety and security deserve the chance to serve.

Instead, Republicans in Congress continue to unfairly discriminate against DREAMers.

Call Congressman Heck at 702-387-4941 and tell him that DREAMers who want to serve deserve our thanks, not more discrimination.
