LAS VEGAS — Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) greeted an ecstatic crowd of some 300 supporters after the Democratic debate, calling on them to wage a “political revolution” with him.
“We are trying to make a political revolution,” Sanders said, telling supporters that they would “change the power structure in America” through “a grass-roots campaign the likes of which no one has ever seen.”
Chanting “Bernie! Bernie!” and waving signs calling for Sanders to “break the class ceiling,” Sanders’ supporters–some of whom were dressed as Robin Hood–turned his debate-watching party into a victory party.
The Sanders campaign hired a large room outside the media cordon in the Wynn Las Vegas hotel, which they packed with excited activists who had been bused to the hotel.
Supporters told Breitbart News that they were very proud of the job he had done during the debate. One said: “As far as I’m concerned, on that stage it’s Bernie versus the corporations.” They offered limited praise for former Maryland governor Martin O’Malley, but few others, dismissing frontrunner Hillary Clinton as “disingenuous,” “dishonest,” and “corrupt.”
Several groups participated in the party, including nurses from the National Nurses United union, which has officially endorsed Sanders, and whom he thanked explicitly during his speech.
