“The President thinks our greatest threat is a sunburn, not a beheading,” said Mike Huckabee at a presidential forum in Texas on Sunday. The Republican presidential candidate was referencing the administration’s belief that climate change is one of the biggest threats to our nation.

At the recent Democratic presidential debate, the Democrat candidates all said climate change was one of the top threats or the top threat, to the world today.

The former governor took great issue with the country’s $20 trillion debt and with giving money to Islamic terrorists that “want to kill you.”

Huckabee said that the jihadists’ goal is the destruction of the United States, but that their ultimate goal is the destruction of Western Civilization. He said, “They want to bring us back to the seventh century” and warned, “You either defeat them, or they will kill us. Those are the only options.”

He said that the goal of Islam is “to bring about the Apocalypse” and to make everyone subject to Islam.

Huckabee distinguished Americans from Muslims saying, “They don’t care if it takes 1000 days or 1000 weeks.” Muslims are not like us, they “think that people are personally expendable for the cause.” He explained that a Muslim woman will strap a bomb to her young son to accomplish the ends of Islam. He said Americans have trouble understanding this because they don’t think this way.

The former governor said America needs to protect its allies in the Middle East. He said the U.S. and Israel are “nations that were both born from tyranny” and there is a type of “spiritual” connection between these countries.

Huckabee said he has been to most of the countries in the Middle East and has known Benjamin Netanyahu since before he got into politics. He said Netanyahu has believed that the U.S. will “have his back.”

Huckabee addressed the rise of China, the “Russian Bear” moving into the Middle East, as well as the threat of ISIS.

Huckabee took issue with the Iran nuclear deal saying that American pastor Saeed Abedini should have been released from an Iranian prison as part of the agreement.

Huckabee said he was very offended about how the federal government “accommodated terrorists” at Guantanamo. He said three times the amount was spent for Muslim meals then for the other prisoners.

Huckabee said that the country and the next president, “cannot do this without almighty God.” His mentioned “his formula” and quoted the Bible in the chapter of Chronicles where it states, “If my people, which are called by my name, will humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” Huckabee emphasized, “God never said ‘if the politicians, or the Republicans,’ he said ‘my people.’” He encouraged those at the forum to not leave our grandchildren the “charred remains of this country.”

The minister and former politician asked the more than 7,000 gathered at the event – how can we ask for blessings from God when 60 million unborn children have been aborted in the last 42 years? He called the practice “uncivilized savagery.” He said he would work to defund Planned Parenthood emphasizing, “It never should have been funded in the first place. He noted that Planned Parenthood was just one of the many organizations that perform abortions. He said his method of addressing abortion was through the U.S. Constitution and said no one can be deprived of life or liberty without due process. He said that we must ask first – “Is that a person?” He added, “Let us say now we will stand for life.”

Huckabee also addressed the “assault” on religious freedom in the country and defended Kim Davis. Davis is the clerk in Kentucky who was put in jail for refusing to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples. He called this the criminalization of Christianity. He said, “Those who believe that the Bible is the infallible word of God, that’s whose next.”

The former governor of Arkansas told those at the forum that “Bill and Hillary” worked against him in every election. He said Clinton even had his office door nailed shut for over 50 days when he first took office.

Huckabee said he served as governor of Arkansas after the prior governor (Jim Guy Tucker) was convicted as part of the Whitewater scandal. He stressed his effectiveness in working against corruption in that state, and said he would do the same in Washington, D.C. He said the country needs someone with the “skills not just to tear down that which is filled with rot,” but to build it for the future of our children.
