According to police, a Kokomo, Indiana, robbery suspect fled the scene after his would-be victim drew her gun in self-defense.

The incident occurred around 5:45 a.m. on May 12.

According to Fox 59, a woman was walking to her residence and was confronted by a suspect standing at the door. “She said the man displayed a gun, and he threatened her and demanded her money.” She responded by pulling her own gun, and “the suspect ran away.”

Police received a second 911 call around the same time that a nearby resident was “confronting an armed suspect in his home.” When police arrived, the resident told them the armed suspect “pointed a firearm at him and fled the scene on foot.”

Police soon caught the suspect, who was still in the area, and they located “a stolen handgun” as well as “stolen property” near him. They identified the suspect as 19-year-old Jaylin Bolden. He was “arrested and charged with burglary while armed with a deadly weapon, attempted robbery, two counts of pointing a firearm, possession of stolen property, and two counts of cruelty to animals.”
