President Donald Trump praised Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell for helping Republicans pull the tax cut bill across the finish line.

“I could have not asked for a better or more talented partner,” Trump wrote on Twitter. “Our team will go onto many more VICTORIES!”

McConnell suffers increasingly low approval ratings among Republican voters, but Trump praised the Senate Majority Leader for doing a “fantastic job both strategically & politically” on the effort.

In a cabinet meeting at the White House on Wednesday, Trump told reporters that Democrats did not help Republicans pass the tax cut bill.

“They like to see tax increases, and they like to complain, but they don’t get it done,” he said.

Trump celebrated that drilling in the Arctic Natural Wildlife Refuge was approved in Alaska as part of the bill as well as the elimination of the Obamacare individual mandate.

“When the individual mandate is being repealed, that means Obamacare is being repealed, because they get their money from the individual mandate,” he said.
