Newly appointed Defense Distributed director Paloma Heindorff announced Tuesday that Cody Wilson’s involvement with the company has come to an end.

During an early morning press conference, Heindorff said: “Cody Wilson tendered his resignation on Friday evening to focus on personal, legal affairs. Defense Distributed board of directors accepted his resignation and thus his role at the company has been concluded.”

When asked what direction Defense Distributed plans to take, Heindorff said, “We’re going to continue on the train we’ve been going on.”

Defense Distributed, a company founded by Wilson, sells a CNC machine, called Ghost Gunner, which enables Americans to complete builds of AR-15s, AR-10s, 1911 handguns, and other firearms in their own home. Paloma said the company currently has about 3,000 orders for the Ghost Gunner machines. They have already shipped 1,500 of those orders and are working on the remaining 1,500.

When asked how the company reacted to Wilson’s legal issues, Heindorff said, “We didn’t miss a beat. No one blinked. No one has missed a day of work. We’ve all come in, we’re still shipping, and we have no intention of stopping.”

Wilson’s resignation follows sexual assault charges announced against him September 19, 2018. The Associated Press reports that Wilson was subsequently arrested in Taiwan, where he had allegedly missed a flight to avoid returning to the U.S. to face charges.

Wilson was sent back to the U.S. and taken into custody in Harris County, Texas. The Houston Chronicle reports charges stem from allegations that Wilson “exchanged naked pictures with a 16-year-old he met on SugarDaddyMeet.com, then took her to an Austin hotel and paid her $500 for sex.”
