A Vanity Fair report indicates that former New York City major Michael Bloomberg is spending millions on a TV ad campaign designed to help Democrat Katie Hill in California’s 25th congressional district.
On October 17, 2018, Breitbart News reported that Hill is running as pro-gun, but actually wants to export California gun control to the rest of the country. She is campaigning on numerous Second Amendment restrictions, including, “a federal ban on assault weapons, high capacity magazines and bump stocks, as well as increasing waiting periods, raising the minimum age to purchase all weapons, and expanding our current background check system.”
She and Bloomberg see eye-to-eye on gun control, and Vanity Fair reports that on Monday Hill began getting “the first part of a $5.4 million TV ad barrage backing Hill starts to land, thanks to Michael Bloomberg.”
On October 10, 2018, Breitbart News reported that Bloomberg and fellow billionaire Tom Steyer were donating a combined $210 million to help gun control candidates win in elections around the country. Bloomberg even held a special fundraiser for Tennessee’s Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate, Phil Bredesen.
Katie Hill is simply the most recent gun controller hoping to benefit form the influx of millions of dollars worth of Bloomberg’s money.
Hill is challenging incumbent Republican Steve Knight (R-CA), who received the endorsement of the local Santa Clarita Valley Signal because Hill would not stop her supporters from harassing the newspaper, and because she was ignorant of the district’s top local issue — namely, the Cemex sand and gravel mine (which locals oppose).
Hill has also marched against Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh — despite being caught on camera making a sex joke at the expense of one of her own female staffers — and has backed higher taxes and gas prices.
