Former Vice President Joe Biden is taking an 11-point lead over his fellow 2020 Democratic presidential challengers in Iowa, according to a recent poll.
An Emerson College poll released Saturday found that 29 percent of likely Iowa Caucus voters favored Biden, taking an 11-point lead over the second-highest Democrat in the polls, Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA), who gained the support of 18 percent of potential Iowa Caucus voters.
Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) came in third, with 15 percent of caucusgoers favoring him, while Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) finished in fourth with the support of 11 percent of Iowa caucusgoers.
The poll also found that Biden would be the only Democratic challenger who would beat President Trump in a hypothetical match-up among Iowa caucus voters.
According to the poll, 51 percent of Iowa voters supported Biden while 49 percent preferred Trump. Trump called Biden a “dream opponent” in July interview with CBS News when asked about a potential 2020 match-up between him and the former vice president.
Pollsters interviewed 260 likely Iowa voters between January 30 and February 2 for the survey, which had a margin of error of six percentage points.
Biden announced in early January that he would decide on whether to launch a 2020 presidential bid by the end of the month after consulting with allies and supporters, but he has not publicly announced his plans as of Monday morning.
Harris formally announced her intention to seek the Democratic Party nomination in the 2020 election at the end of January. Warren launched an exploratory committee for president in December but did not officially announce her intent to run in 2020.
Sanders has not yet announced his intentions to seek a White House bid in 2020.
