Lila Rose: Disney Promotes ‘Pro-Abortion Ideology’ Against Its ‘Future Customers’

Lila Rose, founder and president of Live Action, described Disney’s support for “pro-abortion ideology” as contrary to the company’s business interests given their focus on creating entertainment content for children. She offered her remarks on Thursday’s edition of SiriusXM’s Breitbart News Tonight with host Rebecca Mansour and special guest host John Hayward.

Bob Iger, chairman and CEO of the Walt Disney Company, said on Wednesday it would be “difficult” to continue business relationships in Georgia following the passing of the state’s newest abortion laws.

“If [Georgia’s Living Infants Fairness and Equality (LIFE) Act] becomes law, it’ll be very difficult to produce there,” said Iger. “I rather doubt we will. … Many people who work for us will not want to work there, and we’ll have to heed there wishes in that regard.”

Rose warned of increasing concentration of political power held by corporations promoting “leftist” and “pro-abortion ideology.”

“They’re promoting abortion, and that’s generations of children that can become their future customers,” said Rose. “It really just shows the power of these massive companies and the ideology that unfortunately rules, which is this very leftist, and in this case, this very pro-abortion ideology.”

Rose added, “Half the country considers themselves pro-life, and the vast majority of Americans want abortion restrictions, so that is out of touch with what Netflix and Disney are signaling.”

On Tuesday, Ted Sarandos, Netflix’s chief content officer, considered ending business dealings with Georgia in reaction to the Peach State’s recently passed abortion law. He said Netflix would work with the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) to fight the new law.

Pro-life Americans may organize a boycott of Disney, Netflix, and other companies pushing “pro-abortion ideology,” speculated Rose.

“I think a lot of people are looking at their Netflix subscriptions,” Rose stated. “I know people already that have cancelled their subscriptions. Live Action and other pro-life groups are looking at this and considering coordinating a boycott because I think if it is well-coordinated it could be very successful.”

“Huge companies” like Google, Facebook, and Twitter are “largely run by pro-abortion leaders,” observed Rose. “They’re ubiquitous. They’re everywhere. Everyone is using them, so it’s an increasing problem.”

“How does the marketplace respond when we’re all using products that are so out-of-touch with our values and actually hostile to what we believe in and what we stand for?” considered Rose.

Rose remarked, “To have these mega-corporations like Netflix and Disney be all in support of abortion, it’s not a good look. I think that ultimately there is going to be backlash. Us in the pro-life movement’s leadership, we’re looking at what’s the most strategic way to do that.”

Rose continued, “At this point, it’s ideologues at the highest levels of these companies who are posturing. …  I think there’s going to be a natural backlash in the marketplace, but it requires us all speaking out and standing up and using our purchasing our when we can. That’s where I think there will be opportunities for those who are pro-life to mobilize, and again, it’s something that we’re thinking about and working on.”

Rose went on, “This is a matter of life and death, and the pro-life movement knows it. We’re in it to fight to win it, and the momentum we have is undeniable, and it’s going to continue. Nine states this years already have passed strong pro-life laws — six of them heartbeat laws, one of them a complete ban on abortion in Alabama. This is not going away. This is an all-out fight to save the lives of innocent children and to demand better for women.”

Rose concluded, “I think Netflix and Disney are going to hit a reckoning if they actually try to start being abortion activists, beyond an occasional pro-abortion program, which they do. If they start to actually be serious about that as leadership, then they’re going to have to pay. There’s going to be a reckoning. The movement’s stronger than ever, and it’s only going to keep getting stronger.”
