One of the protesters at Rutgers University against a speech given by Breitbart Tech editor Milo Yiannopoulos has been given a ‘Human Dignity’ award by the university’s chancellor.
Yiannopoulos had been invited by the Young Americans For Liberty at Rutgers to speak on “How the Progressive Left Is Destroying Education.”
Monica Torres, who won the Chancellor’s Leadership Award and Clement A. Price Human Dignity Award, protested by smearing her face in fake blood while chanting “Black Lives Matter.” She is a student as well as working as a “resident assistant.” Her Facebook profile also states that she is an employee of the university.
A statement by Rutgers revealed that “Monica Torres has been selected as the recipient of the 2016 Chancellor’s Leadership Award and is also a recipient of the Clement A. Price Human Dignity Award from the Committee to Advance our Common Purposes.”
A source at the university claimed that there is also a financial reward for the prize, although could not specify the amount.
Torres took to her Facebook to boast, saying that it “feels good to be back in red as a recipient of the Chancellor’s Leadership Award.”
