No. 9 Kansas Wins Signature Road Game at No. 14 Oklahoma St.

Three players who just missed the Breitbart Sports All-American team of the top 20 players in the country took the court Wednesday night, and Oklahoma State’s Marcus Smart looked like the hero when he hit a three-pointer to tie the score 57-57 and force Kansas into overtime. But the game turned with 2:24 left to go in the second overtime, when Smart drove toward the hoop to try to put Oklahoma State up 67-64, but instead charged to foul out of the game, meaning the best three players left based onValue Add rankings released Wednesday played for Kansas:

Rnk Player Team Ht
14 Marcus Smart Oklahoma St. 6′ 4″
16 Ben McLemore Kansas 6′ 5″
20 Jeff Withey Kansas 7′ 0
63 Travis Releford Kansas 6′ 6″
82 Markel Brown Oklahoma St. 6′ 3″

Those three helped the Jayhawks pull off the signature road win 68-67.

Smart just missed a 60-footer at the end of the first overtime, but it grazed the rim to force a second overtime. Marcus Smart started slow this year, but has been perhaps the best player in the country the last several weeks to rise the the 14th best player in the country to barely miss the Breitbart Sports All-American. Unfortunately for No. 14 Oklahoma, No. 9 was able to seal the win once Smart was on the bench.

With 1:01 to play Jeff Withey hit two free throws to give Kansas the 66-65 lead, and after a Markel Brown jumper, Naadir Tharpe hit a jumper with 20 seconds and Travis Releford came up with a steal to seal a 68-67 Kansas win.

Ben McLemore (pictured) and Travis Releford did a good job on Smart, holding him to just 2 of 14 shooting despite his 16 points and seven rebounds. However, once he was gone and they could   Marcel Brown scored 20 points.

Jeff Withey provided the big numbers with 17 points, 14 rebounds and four blocked shots, and is very close to moving into the All-American team released today by Breitbart Sports.
