Seeing Double? Top 5 in Big East/Ten Identical after Georgetown Win, Michigan Shocked

Georgetown’s Otto Porter scored 21 points after half time to give Georgetown another big road win, and the Hoyas are now in the exact same position as Indiana. The two teams that played each other into overtime on a neutral court before starting play in the two toughest conferences are now both in first place at 12-3. They could play again in the Elite 8 or Final Four.

Both teams have three games to play, and two teams at 11-4 one game behind them. Marquette and Louisville are right behind Georgetown, while Wisconsin and Michigan State are right behind Indiana. The other team that expected to be in that mix is Michigan, but they were stunned by Penn State, who improved to 1-14 in the conference with the win. The Nittany Lions stunner made Michigan 10-5, just like Ohio State in the Big Ten and Syracuse and Notre Dame in the Big East.

Louisville won easily at DePaul Wednesday, but will have a much tougher challenge at Syracuse Saturday. Marquette also faces a tough test when Notre Dame comes to town – and Georgetown gets a home game against Rutgers. Indiana hosts an Iowa team that improved to 7-8 with a home win over Purdue tonight.

Wisconsin hosts Purdue Saturday, while Michigan State has to travel to a Michigan team that may have been looking past Penn State tonight. two conferences in the country, and both are in first place at 12-3, followed by two teams who are 11-4 and two more that are 10-5.
