President Donald Trump was presented with a jersey by Croatian leader Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic on Wednesday morning. A few hours later, Croatia defeated England to earn their first trip to a World Cup final.

Trump posed with Croatian leader Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic and the jersey on the morning of the game:

Trump received the number 9 jersey from Grabar-Kitarovic, while England’s Prime Minister Theresa May received the number 10. The jersey exchange provided a light-hearted moment of relief from the NATO summit in Brussels.

Though, the jovial scene would soon give way to scenes of sadness in England.

The “Three Lions” squad led by Gareth Southgate jumped out to an early lead over Croatia after an early free kick led to a goal. However, England’s failure to convert on several opportunities to add to that lead came back to haunt them as Croatia tied the game in regulation and won it in extra time, 2-1.

Croatia will advance to face France for the World Cup title on Sunday. England will face Belgium in the third-place game.

President Trump will likely not be wearing his Croatia jersey when he visits England on Thursday.
