Kim Jong Un Makes History, Crosses Border to Meet with South Korean President

GOYANG, South Korea (AP) — With a single step over a weathered, cracked slab of concrete, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un made history Friday by crossing over the world’s most heavily armed border to greet his rival, South Korean President Moon Jae-in, for talks on North Korea’s nuclear weapons. Kim then invited Moon to cross briefly north with him before they returned to the southern side.

North Korean Media Vows to Resist ‘Imperialist Ideology’ and ‘Cultural Poisoning’ of U.S.

With a historic summit between North and South Korean leaders just days away, and a meeting between dictator Kim Jong-un and U.S. President Donald Trump penciled in for next month, North Korea’s state-run Rodong Sinmun newspaper published a fiery editorial on Sunday declaring that Communist purity will be firmly maintained against America’s “cultural poisoning.”

Hotline Opened Between North and South Korean Leaders

A week before the scheduled summit meeting between South Korean President Moon Jae-in and North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un, their respective nations established a hotline allowing direct communication between the two leaders. It is the first time the leaders of the two Koreas have been able to communicate directly with each other.
