Bobby Jindal Blasts Scott Walker Over ‘Cradle to Grave’ Healthcare Plan

“In a health care plan that is light on specifics, Governor Walker endorsed the fundamental underpinning of Obamacare – the notion that America needs another entitlement program,” Jindal said according to a press release from his campaign. “In Governor Walker’s plan, a new entitlement is created for every single American human being from the time they are born right up until they grow old and become eligible for Medicare…”

Lawmaker: ‘More Work to Do’ to Defund Planned Parenthood in Wisconsin

Though Gov. Scott Walker redirected approximately $1 million of prior Wisconsin funding that went primarily to Planned Parenthood in his state to other public women’s health centers that do not provide abortions, a state lawmaker says there is “more work to do” and is seeking to completely defund the organization in the state.

Scott Walker Says He’s Not Running On Social Issues, And He Really Isn’t

In fact, just Friday, while campaigning in New Hampshire where he was asked questions about gay Boy Scout leaders, Walker said he is not planning to get bogged down on controversial social issues. “Those aren’t what I’m running on,” Walker said, according to the Associated Press. “It’s just the unique thing that people are surprised about is, I actually answer questions.”

Walker Adviser on Strategy: ‘Much Easier To Move From Being Conservative to Moderate Later On’

“You start in Iowa and lock up conservatives, because if you don’t do that, none of the rest matters,” Walker’s adviser reportedly told journalist Tim Alberta. “It’s much easier to move from being a conservative to being a middle-of-the-road moderate later on. In Iowa, you see the beginnings of that,” he added. “He’s capturing that conservative wing first and foremost, and then moving from Iowa to the other states and bringing other voters into the fold.”

Walker Defunds Smarter Balanced Test, But Replacement Exam Also Aligned With Common Core

Walker, a likely 2016 contender, has recently affirmed what has been true of Wisconsin school districts all along – that they can choose their own standards. To his credit, he has also proposed defunding the Smarter Balanced test, a product of one of the federally funded, interstate Common Core test consortia. Grassroots parents groups, however, say Walker’s proposed new state exam – called the “Badger Exam,” is also aligned with the Common Core standards.
