Border Patrol agents apprehended nearly 159,000 migrants who illegally crossed the southwest border with Mexico between ports of entry in October. The record-setting apprehensions represent an increase of nearly 130 percent over the previous October.
Border Patrol agents apprehended more than 790,000 migrants in the five months that followed President Joe Biden’s changes in border policy. This represents an increase of more than 500 percent over the same period the previous year.
Agents in the five Texas-based Border Patrol sectors apprehended more than 730,000 so far this fiscal year. The apprehensions account for more than two-thirds of the more than one million migrants apprehended along the U.S. southwestern border with Mexico.
Border Patrol agents apprehended more than 178,000 migrants in June along the U.S. border with Mexico, marking the largest single-month increase since March. The increasing number of apprehensions led to a total of 1,076,242 migrants apprehended so far this fiscal year.
