Spanish Woman Arrested for Running ISIS ‘Sex Slave’ Recruiting Operation

Spanish police announced the arrest of a woman identified only as “Silvia C.” on Tuesday, believed to have been in contact with Islamic State jihadists in Syria and responsible for recruiting women and girls as “sex slaves” for jihadis in the Middle East. The Spanish Ministry of the Interior released few details, stating the investigation that led to her arrest remains ongoing.

Austin Convenes Session to Help Staff Understand Women

Now that the Austin City Council is comprised of seven women and four men, the first time in its history that the majority of members are women, the city manager’s office decided that staff interacting with the council needed some education as to how women think and act, and convened a two-hour training session on March 27 with speakers from Florida delineating how women are different from men.

Record 56,167,000 Women Out Of Labor Force

A record number of women were not in the labor force in April, according to numbers released Friday by the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Last month, the number of women not in the workforce increased from the previous record of 56,131,000, registered in March, to a new record of 56,167,000.
