Four men in Indonesia, the largest Muslim nation in the world, have been arrested for “spreading gay pictures,” and face up to sixteen years in prison, according to a report.

“The Indonesian men are suspected by the police of spreading gay pornography online, but seem to have been targeted simply because they enjoy BDSM,” reported Pink News on Thursday, who reportedly received a tip from a reader.

“Today, my friend was put in jail in Indonesia for taking pictures when playing BDSM with his submissive,” the reader allegedly claimed. “The picture doesn’t even have genitals in it. They think it’s porn because they simply don’t understand BDSM, and they hate gays.”

The incident was reportedly confirmed by Police Brigadier General Fadil Imran, who claimed to have arrested “perpetrators of dissemination of videos and photos of sexually immoral content with the classification of BDSM.”

Two of the men arrested had several BDSM items confiscated by the police, which included “straps, rubber whips, handcuffs, candles, iron chains, body vests, mouth masks, masks, body leather belts, chopsticks, and whip tools.”

From the other two men, police also confiscated “clamp clothes, clothesline, dog chains, candles, baby oil and massage tools.”

In October, it was reported that Indonesia, the largest Muslim nation in the world, is considering a ban on LGBT television characters.

Though homosexuality is not explicitly outlawed in Indonesia, crackdowns on homosexual activities have been on the rise. 141 men, including a British national, were arrested in Indonesia earlier this year on suspicion of having a “gay sex party.”
