Border Patrol agents caught a Honduran national with a criminal record and long immigration history trying to cross the Canadian-U.S. border this week.

Agents nabbed 43-year-old Marco George-Torres right after he illegally crossed into the United States near Highgate, Vermont. His immigration history includes convictions for illegal entry and a conviction for the felony of illegal reentry. He also has a 2012 domestic violence conviction out of Michigan. The agents charged George-Torres with a new illegal reentry violation under 8 U.S.C. 1326. The new felony charge could land him in prison for up to 20 years.

“This arrest is a great example of the work Border Patrol agents do each day enforcing our nation’s laws,” Swanton Station Patrol Agent in Charge Matthew Sherman said in a written statement obtained by Breitbart Texas. “These agents prevented a criminal alien from reentering the United States.”

The Swanton Sector, located in Swanton, Vermont, works to secure the border between ports of entry along the northern border in Vermont, New Hampshire, and northeastern New York.

The southern border of the United States is not the exclusive route for human smugglers.

Just two weeks ago, federal officials stopped two Uzbek nationals who illegally crossed the border from Canada into New York, reported Breitbart Texas. They also arrested Habib Muhammed (46), the U.S. citizen who was trying to smuggle them into the country.

In November 2017, Breitbart News reported that Uzbekistan is one of two top countries that have produced most of the Islamic jihadists who are now fighting and killing U.S. troops and their allies in Afghanistan.

Breitbart also reported that authorities identified the truck jihadist that left eight dead in downtown Manhattan on October 31 as an Uzbek national. Officials say that 29-year-old Sayfullo Habibullaevic Saipov rented a Home Depot truck and drove through a bicycle lane in Manhattan. After striking several people, Saipov jumped out of the truck, shouting “Allahu akbar” and brandished a paintball and a pellet gun. Police shot the Uzbek national and arrested him. Saipov has been in the U.S. since 2010.

In December, Breitbart Texas reported that U.S. Border Patrol agents arrested a Mexican national as he crossed the border from Canada into Maine. Immigration officials had deported Eliud Lopez-Baez earlier in 2017.
