PolitiFact: Wendy Davis 'Opposes Late-Term Abortions'

State Senator Wendy Davis (D-TX) was the woman behind that symbolic obstructionist filibuster the media championed — the one that temporarily halted a law in Texas that would make late-term abortions illegal, unless the mother’s life is endangered or in “cases of fetal abnormality.” Despite this, and her pro-abortion voting record, the left-wing fact-checking site PolitiFact claims that “Davis opposes late-term abortions.”

There is nothing in Davis’s voting record to back up her campaign’s (she’s running for Texas governor) claim that, “Like most Texans, Sen. Davis opposes late-term abortions except when the life or health of the mother is endangered, in cases of rape or incest or in the case of severe and irreversible fetal abnormalities[.]” But PolitiFact takes her word for it, despite her extremist voting record.

PolitiFact even points out that in 2009 and 2011, Davis voted “against state legislation requiring women to get sonograms before having an abortion.” And twice, including the bill she infamously filibustered, Davis voted against bans on late-term abortions.

The loophole Davis jumps through is the ole’ “health of the mother” ploy — and despite her voting record, PolitiFact is happy to greases that loophole. LifeNews lays that nonsense bare:

As anyone who has spent any time analyzing abortion law understands, a health exception is an open door to virtually every abortion. Politiact ignores that to focus on the Supreme Court ruling in Roe, omitting that it allowed more than 55 million abortions.

This is typical of PolitiFact; the turning  of wrong into right and black into white, all in effort to protect a Democrat. The backflips the left-wing outlet performs to get Davis out of this jam is something no conservative would ever benefit from.

This is, after all, the same PolitiFact that just couldn’t bring itself to rate as true the documented fact that Barack Obama once ate a dog and then laughably claimed that Obama presided over the slowest growth in federal spending of any recent president.
