Presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump weighed in on the controversy surrounding talk show host Katie Couric’s edited documentary on guns.
“Katie Couric, the third rate reporter, who has been largely forgotten, should be ashamed of herself for the fraudulent editing of her doc,” Trump posted on Twitter on Tuesday.
Trump’s tweet comes after Couric has been under scrutiny for a misleading edit on a documentary, “Under the Gun,” which showed a more than eight second pause by gun activists after Couric posed a question to them asking how to prevent terrorists from obtaining guns without requiring background checks.
The pause appears to imply the gun activists were stumped by the question. However, audio of the interview revealed the response to her question was immediate.
Couric says she regrets not discussing her initial concerns with the edit “more vigorously.”
Trump, who was recently endorsed by the National Rifle Association (NRA), is a strong proponent of the second amendment.
