Darby: Institutional Left Romanticizes Black Bloc Anarchists

On Thursday’s “Hannity” on Fox News, Breitbart News’ Steve Bannon and Brandon Darby detailed the violent and radical nature of the Black Bloc anarchists, a group Bannon referred to as the “special forces” of the Occupy Movement.

Hannity invited Bannon and Darby to discuss a Black Bloc video Breitbart News’ Lee Stranahan unearthed in which Black Bloc anarchists are shown proudly destroying private property in scenes reminiscent of those in the movie “Occupy Unmasked,” which starred Breitbart and Bannon directed.

“The reason Andrew Breitbart wanted to do this film… is because [he knew and wanted to show] the underpinnings of this movement are confrontational and radical,” Bannon said, noting that the Black Bloc video is a recruitment tool of which they are proud.

Bannon said those in Black Bloc “are dangerous and they are proud of being dangerous,” and they are part and parcel of the broader Occupy Movement, which is something the late Breitbart saw before most.

“We should never buy into that meme that they are separate — these are all one unit,” Bannon said. “This is the special forces of the Occupy Movement.”

Darby, a former liberal protestor and activist who later became an FBI informant, spoke about his experiences inside the movement of groups — like Occupy — that wanted to fundamentally transform America.

Darby said groups like Black Bloc are ultimately “supported by the moderate, left-of-center groups and are protected by the them and the media after they are caught by police” after committing violent and destructive acts.

Darby was inside meetings where those on the left, many of whom would later form the Occupy Movement, wanted to use military tactics to destroy corporate property and disrupt civil society.

In his last investigation, Darby said those in the radical left wanted to shut down the Republican National Convention by “any means necessary” and were arrested after planning to bomb police and Republican National Committee members.

More disturbingly, Darby said “the media and those on the left” like the Huffington Post ultimately defended the bomb makers and cast doubt on the FBI, law enforcement officers, investigators, and informants because they lionize these group and some of their actions and intentions.

“These are the romanticized figures for the liberal movement,” Darby said.

Hannity said this was exactly what  Bannon and David Bossie, the executive producer of the movie, warned about in “Occupy Unmasked.” Hannity mentioned how the Occupy Movement had “rape tents” to protect people from being raped and had protestors who defecated on police cars, which was captured in the Occupy Unmasked film.

Bannon said the Black Bloc video should be viewed by and worry progressives and liberals because it taunts those on the center left they do not think are tough or violent enough.

“They mock progressives and liberals who are not prepared to take the fight to police and institutions,” Bannon said, noting that “Black Block is an integral part of the Occupy movement.”
