Vice President Joe Biden said Monday that there is so much violence in America that there is "a Sandy Hook-plus" of deaths every day. 

He claimed that the White House proposals calling for an assault weapons ban and a ban on high-capacity magazines entailed “zero conflict” with the Second Amendment. He also said the Second Amendment was the guarantee of gun rights for “responsible” gun ownership.

Biden's comments were apparently prompted by a fatal shooting in Wilmington, Delaware. He said the shooting made clear the "the urgency" for "common sense" restrictions on gun sales.

Biden did not clarify what he meant by “responsible” gun ownership or “common sense” restrictions.  He also offered no statistics for how many deaths a day equal “Sandy Hook-plus.”
