Each time someone in America is killed using a gun owned by a non-career criminal, the press calls for new gun control measures. But when citizens are killed by gun-wielding criminals, the media is nowhere to be found. Another case like that just occurred in Miami, where 36-year-old Maurice Harris was murdered while trying to protect his 11-year-old daughter. “He was my husband of 16 years,” said Shekila Stewart. “He meant everything to me.”

According to police, two armed men broke into Harris’ home and told Harris they wanted cash. Then they tried to go for Harris’ daughter’s room – and Harris fought back. Harris’ cousin explained, “that’s when they wrestled and he shot him.”
