HHS Hires 86 Obamacare Criminal Investigators, Just 2 Consumer Advocates
The US Department of Health and Human Services has hired 86 new “criminal investigators” charged with enforcing Obamacare. While HHS was given authority under Obamacare to hire 261 “consumer safety officers” charged with protecting consumers, only two have been hired thus far.
HHS has authority under the Affordable Care Act to hire up to 1,814 new federal employees; thus far, 1,684 have been hired. Those employees cost the taxpayer upward of $138 million annually. The top salary, $161,450, was due to be collected by 29 different employees ranging from contracting officers to health insurance administrators. The criminal investigators will be paid between $51,800 and $89,350.
