Breitbart Editors Join Washington, Los Angeles Morning Radio
Breitbart News editors are foraying into the world of radio, expanding the reach and breadth of Breitbart News’ content. Breitbart TV Editor-In-Chief Larry O’Connor has joined the morning show on Cumulus News/Talk WMAL/Washington, “Mornings On The Mall.” He will be co-hosting with Brian Wilson. The show broadcasts 5-9 a.m. Eastern.
“The first time I was ever on radio was as a guest of Andrew Breitbart when he filled-in for Dennis Miller,” said O’Connor. “That was almost three years ago and Andrew's encouragement and support as I developed my Internet radio show always gave me hope and confidence that one day I'd find success in the medium. To be able to honor his faith in me on a station as important and influential as WMAL is humbling. Know this: Andrew will be in my thoughts every morning when I go on the air. I'm excited to have the opportunity to share the great, breaking news and analysis we feature daily at BNN with the knowledgable and influential audience of WMAL.”
Here’s the press release from WMAL:
Larry O’Connor, talk host and Editor-In-Chief of the Breitbart.tv website, joins Brian Wilson as co- host of Cumulus News/Talk WMAL/Washington’s morning program, “Mornings On The Mall”. O’Connor, who has regularly guest-hosted the nationally-syndicated “Dennis Miller Show” as well as programs on WMAL, WABC and WOR/New York, WPHT/ Philadelphia, and WLS/Chicago (among others), began his talkradio career by creating the highest-rated nightly news show on Blog Talk Radio.
"I am thrilled to be joining Brian Wilson, producer Heather Smith and the entire Mornings on the Mall team that (PD) Bill Hess has assembled at the legendary WMAL in Washington DC”, said O’Connor. “Starting my day having a conversation with the people of this community and then continuing my vital work as an editor for the Breitbart News Network is truly a dream come true and I can't wait to hit the ground running."
“Larry began his career in the theater business”, said Hess. “The opportunity to marry his talents as an entertainer to our daily discussion of subjects of interest to our audience make this an exciting move. Larry’s New Media experience and expertise is icing on the cake!”.
Larry Solov CEO of Breitbart News added, " We are incredibly excited that Larry is joining the WMAL team and increasing the presence of Breitbart News personnel in the country's most important news market”.
O’Connor begins immediately.
O’Connor (Washington, D.C.) and Ben Shapiro (Los Angeles) now form bookends in the morning radio market in two of the largest radio cities in America.
Breitbart News Editor-At-Large Ben Shapiro co-hosts “The Heidi Harris Show” along with Brian Whitman and Heidi Harris on KRLA/KTIE in Los Angeles, each morning 6-9 a.m. Pacific. He joined the show in May 2012.
“We are delighted that the impact of Breitbart News can now be heard in two of the most important media markets in the country,” said Larry Solov, CEO of Breitbart News. “WMAL and KRLA/KTIE are legendary signals. We couldn’t be happier for our editors to work with them to trumpet the principle of citizen journalism and the attitude of the Andrew Breitbart-ian happy warrior. Larry and Ben are stalwart Breitbart torch-bearers, and their presence on morning radio adds another bullet in the chamber for our overall media strategy.”
Executive Chairman Steve Bannon added, “Breitbart News is expanding into every area of media in order to increase the exposure for the company's greatest strength -- its talent.”
