Syrian Islamists Cut Off Accused Thief's Hand, Post Photos on Twitter

Militants from the Islamist State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) used a large sword to cut off an accused thief’s hand and posted live photographs of the amputation on Twitter.

According to the Daily Mail, one of the photographs “showed a blindfolded man with his hand being held down on a table while surrounded by a large group of militant rebels.” In the foreground stood a man in a white robe reading the charges against the accused thief.

Another photo shows “a man in a black balaclava holding up a large sword” beside the accused thief, and yet another showed the accused lurching backwards after the sword struck and cut off his hand.

The fact that the forced amputation was carried-out by the “pro-Al Qaeda jihadist group” ISIS is seen by many as another proof that Islamists are solidifying “an iron grip over parts of Syria.”
