Golden State's Steph Curry Scores NBA Season-High 54 Points in Loss at NY

Golden State Warriors guard Steph Curry scored 54 points, the most by any player this year in the NBA, in a losing effort against the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday.

The Knicks beat the Warriors--in what was Golden State head coach Mark Jackson's homecoming--109-105.

But Curry stole the show under New York's bright lights, draining 11 of 13 three pointers from all over the floor and making 18 of 28 field goals.

Curry wanted to be a Knick when he entered the NBA draft out of Davidson, and the Knicks wanted Curry as well in 2009. Golden State selected Curry, seventh, though, one pick ahead of the New York in the 2009 NBA Draft. The Knicks ended up taking Jordan Hill out of Arizona.

The Warriors were playing without All-Star David Lee, who was suspended for this game for fighting with Indiana's Roy Hibbert on Tuesday.

Kevin Durant's 52 points had been the most points scored this year in the NBA. Curry's 54 points were also the most points by an NBA player in seven years. In December of 2006, Kobe Bryant of the Lakers scored 58 points in a loss Charlotte.
