UFC may finally be getting a home with the mainstream media. Long shown on a variety of channels in addition to Pay Per View, Fox Sports 1 will now be the primary host for the popular sport.
This will be the first opportunity for Mixed Martial Arts to enter into the discussion of average sports fans. The sport has long been specialized, and the opportunity to be a centerpiece on this new major network should "popularize" the sport.
The network, set to rival ESPN, will also feature NASCAR Sprint Cup races and will be the end of the Speed channel. Baseball, soccer, and college sports are also expected to be a significant portion of the programming.
