Golfer Patrick Reed Under Fire for Using Gay Slur After Bad Putt

PGA golfer Patrick Reed has drawn criticism for muttering a gay slur in frustration after missing a putt during the first round of the WCG-HSBC Champions in Shanghai, China.

Caught on camera missing what should have been a fairly easy putt, Reed launched into a string of curses during which he said, “Nice f**king three-putt, you f**king f****t.”

During the broadcast of the game, Golf Channel analyst Frank Nobilo quickly apologized to viewers for the 102-ranked player’s outburst. PGA officials have already condemned the tirade.

“The PGA Tour Conduct Unbecoming regulations prohibit the use of obscene language on the golf course,” officials said in a statement. “The PGA Tour will deal with this matter internally in accordance with its regulations.”

Reed himself jumped to Twitter to apologize for his actions.

If the PGA fines the player, fans may never know because the golf authority has a policy of not releasing details of fines or censures.
