This week, Hillary Clinton’s campaign team was boasting that snow wouldn’t slow them down, even though New Hampshire Governor Maggie Hassan issued a formal warning that bad conditions were expected.

A few hours later, four Secret Service agents were seriously injured in a head-on collision that proved fatal for the driver of the other vehicle, a very odd character named Bruce Danforth who was driving without a valid license and was, according to the Washington Post, “known” to the local police department, having an “extensive criminal history.”
Danforth reportedly caused the accident by crossing over into oncoming traffic. The two passengers in his vehicle were injured and taken to the hospital along with the Secret Service agents. Three of the agents were released from the hospital Wednesday, according to WMUR News, while the fourth needed further treatment for injuries described as serious but not life-threatening. Danforth died at the scene.
The Washington Post describes the injured Secret Service agents as part of a “jump team,” which travels between events for various candidates to provide additional security. WMUR says they were working Hillary Clinton’s detail before the crash; her motorcade passed the accident scene about five hours later.
So maybe it’s not such a bad idea to cancel campaign events out of safety concerns over severe weather.
