Democrats ‘Confounded’ They Can’t Hurt President Donald Trump with Constant Attacks

Democrats have tried every way possible to destroy President Donald Trump but find themselves “confounded” that every attack just bounces off our “Teflon Don” of a president no matter what they try.

No line of attack has stuck to Donald Trump. To name just a few accusations, Democrats have tried pushing unproven claims that he colluded with Russia, claimed he is “unfit” to be president, and said he is a “bigot,” and a “racist,” but Trump’s supporters have yet to waver in any great numbers, according to Politico.

Polls and interviews of voters in swing states show that Democrats still have a tall hill to climb to be electorally viable. “It suggests,” Politico writes, “that Democrats are naive if they believe Trump’s historically low approval numbers mean a landslide is coming.”

Politico reminds readers that the Democrats have to flip 10 Senate seats and 24 House seats all in those swing states which show little interest in voting for Democrats.

But if Democrats are just banking that a constant flow of attacks on Trump will result in victory, they have another think coming. One Democrat strategist warns, “If that’s the attitude that’s driving the Democratic Party, we’re going to drive right into the ocean.”

Worse, many of the main ideas Democrats have been floating poll poorly in the very states Democrats need to pick up. Voters are not interested in “free college tuition, raising the minimum wage to $15, [and] Medicaid for all.”

The call for free college tuition fosters both resentment at ivory tower elitism and regret from people who have degrees but are now buried under debt. Many voters see “free” as a lie — either they’ll end up paying for tuition some other way, or worse, they’ll be paying the tuition of someone else who’ll be getting a degree for free.

Politico lays out several more of the Democrats’ favorite talking points and where those attacks fail in the eyes of swing state voters.

Also, according to some liberal pollsters, voters think the president has fostered change, so Democrats can’t even effectively say Trump has not fulfilled his campaign promises to convince swing voters to return to the left.

Suffice to say, the leftward party just can’t find a winning issue and their decades old playbook of the politics of personal destruction seems to be failing them.
