Following a Twitter-thrashing at the hands of Donald Trump on Tuesday, actor Samuel L. Jackson visited Late Night with Seth Meyers Tuesday night and insisted that the Republican presidential frontrunner does indeed know him.

Earlier in the day, Trump ripped the Hateful Eight star as “boring” and said he was “not a fan,” after Jackson claimed in a recent interview to have golfed with the billionaire businessman. Trump added that to the best of his knowledge, he had never played golf with the actor.

On Tuesday night, Jackson told Seth Meyers that he and Trump had met “a lot.”

“I’ve played golf with him. I actually played golf with him with Anthony Anderson one day. We were all playing together, and we clearly saw him hook a ball into a lake at Trump National in [New] Jersey,” Jackson said. “And his caddie told him he found it.”

“I have another person that can verify that he knows me,” Jackson continued. “He called me one day, I was here in New York… (mimicking phone call from Trump): ‘You busy today? You want to play golf? I’m not going to play but I’ve got a friend who wants to play…’ And when I got there, it was President Clinton, who could also verify that Donald Trump knows me.”

“I will say, if we can prove that Donald Trump is lying when he says he doesn’t know you, this might be the thing that finally brings down his campaign,” Meyers quipped.

Not one to let Jackson have the last word, Trump fired off two tweets Wednesday dogging the actor over his golf game and urging him to stop doing Capital One credit card commercials.
