A climber has died after falling 50 metres on the north face of Ben Nevis, Britain’s highest mountain.
Police in the Scottish Highlands were alerted that the man, who was climbing with one other person, had fallen in the Raeburn’s Buttress area and two helicopters and members of the Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team were dispatched to the scene on Monday.
Northern Constabulary confirmed that the man died during the rescue attempt.
“The man will not be identified until all next of kin have been informed and a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal,” said a police spokesman.
