President-elect Donald Trump announced plans Wednesday morning to step down from his company to focus on his presidency.

“I will be holding a major news conference in New York City with my children on December 15 to discuss the fact that I will be leaving my great business in total in order to fully focus on running the country in order to MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!” Trump wrote on Twitter Wednesday morning:

Trump’s announcement is a followup to several media stories investigating Trump’s business, warning that he could have a conflict of interest while serving in the presidency.

The President-elect explained that he felt it was “visually important” to remove himself from his business.

“[L]egal documents are being crafted which take me completely out of business operations,” he wrote. “The Presidency is a far more important task!”

Trump will likely transfer ownership of his business to his children during his presidency.
