The Daily Show is being used as anti-American propaganda in China.

A clip of Trevor Noah praising Huawei’s 5G technology ran on Chinese state television at lunchtime, according to the Associated Press.

“Recently, famous American talk show host Trevor Noah expressed his views on America’s relentless suppression of Huawei,” the Chinese news anchor said, according to the Associated Press. “He says the reason for the suppression is because Huawei possesses advanced 5G technology, while American 5G lags far behind.”

That was followed by a clip from the Daily Show where Noah said, “The best 5G technology is made by a Chinese company called Huawei.”

The Trump administration has restricted U.S. technology sales to Huawei, although some of the restrictions have been put on a 90-day hold to give U.S. companies time to make adjustments.

The U.S. has accused Huawei’s chief financial officer of defrauding banks to violate sanctions against Iran and stealing technology. The Justice Department and U.S. companies have accused Huawei of engaging in industrial espionage. Lawmakers and a surprisingly large number of U.S. government agencies have accused Huawei of being an arm and agent of the Chinese government, not only part of its military-espionage complex but also a key component of the Made in China 2025 plan to dominate high-tech manufacturing.
