Police arrested an illegal alien after he allegedly broke into a Trenton, New Jersey, home and sexually assaulted a 6-year-old girl.
Edgar Mendoza, a 32-year-old illegal alien from Guatemala, allegedly broke into a family’s home, the Trentonian reported, gaining access to the 6-year-old girl’s bedroom. He got into bed with the little girl before sexually assaulting her, according to the Trenton Police Department.
The father of the young girl soon entered the bedroom and found the illegal alien in bed with his daughter, prompting Mendoza to quickly jump out of the second-story window from the child’s bedroom.
“The people in the residence do not know him,” Trenton Police Department Lt. Stephen Varn told the Trentonian. “We believe he entered through the same window he jumped out of.”
Following Mendoza fleeing the scene of the alleged assault, the father of the child called police gave them a description. Meanwhile, the girl was taken to the hospital after the sexual assault.
“Further investigation found the child had been sexually assaulted by Mendoza,” Varn said.
Police investigators eventually found Mendoza, who was positively identified by the child’s father, and his cell phone was found outside the window of the home, linking him directly to the break-in and sexual assault.
Prosecutors charged Mendoza with three counts of aggravated sexual assault, burglary, and endangering the welfare of a child.
Officials with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) confirmed that Mendoza is illegally present in the United States. Officers placed an immigration hold on the suspect. Should the illegal alien be released from prison at any time, ICE will take him into custody where he will face deportation to Guatemala.
