GOP Sen Cotton ‘Cautiously Pessimistic’ on Prospects of Senate Health Care Bill Passage

Wednesday on Fox News Channel’s “Fox & Friends,” Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) gave show co-host Brian Kilmeade his view of where the Senate stood on making progress on the passage of health care legislation.

Cotton said there was a chance the bill could come up for a vote next week.

“I think we’re working to craft a final version of the bill and also get a budget back from the Congressional Budget Office,” Cotton said. “So, we’re moving forward. Hopefully, we’ll have a vote next week and we’ll pass legislation that will make Americans’ health care a little bit better and a little but more affordable.”

Kilmeade pointed out that two of Cotton’s Republican colleagues had differing views on the status of the legislation passed. Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) was pessimistic and Sen. Bob Corker (R-TN) was optimistic about the prospects. Cotton indicated he was somewhere in the middle.

“Brian, like most things in life, I find myself cautiously pessimistic,” he replied.
