Delaney: ‘It Feels Like Some Democrats Are Cheering on a Recession’

While speaking to reporters on Wednesday, 2020 presidential candidate former Representative John Delaney (D-MD) stated, “It feels like some Democrats are cheering on a recession because they want to stick it to Trump.”

Delaney said, “It feels like some Democrats are cheering on a recession because they want to stick it to Trump. I don’t want a recession. … But I worry that Trump’s policies are bringing one on.”

Delaney declined to say which specific Democrats he was referring to. CNN’s DJ Judd then asked, “You think members of your party are actively hoping for a recession?”

Delaney answered that it’s crucial that Democrats be clear that they don’t want a recession.

Judd then followed up on whether Delaney thinks some Democrats are hoping for a recession.

Delaney responded, “I didn’t say that.”
