John Oliver's 'Last Week Tonight' Zings 'Sh*tty' ObamaCare Site in Debut

Have no fear, John Oliver will soon take his place as another liberal voice in HBO’s lineup of left-leaning stars.

The New York Daily News dubbed him “as progressive as they come.”

The Daily Show alum John Oliver still used a part of his pay cable debut, Last Week Tonight, to torment an ObamaCare-related web site. Oliver’s Sunday start featured a potpourri of news items, but his jab at ObamaCare clearly riled up his audience.

He did Oregon wasting almost $250m to build a health care website that never worked (first applause line of the night: “That has got to be a bitter pill to swallow for the people of Oregon. Or it would be, if they could get the pill, which they can’t, because their shitty website is broken”).

Note to Oliver: The line got not just laughs, but applause. Something to consider when you huddle to write next week’s episode.

The show also took on NBA owner Donald Sterling for his racist comments and grilled former NSA Director Keith Alexander.
