Watch: Donald Trump Details Being Tested Twice for the Coronavirus

White House

President Trump described being tested twice for the Chinese coronavirus during a Task Force press briefing at the White House on Saturday.

Even though the initial testing procedure was invasive and uncomfortable, it has since improved dramatically, he told reporters.

“Our testing is getting better and better. I took the first test. The first test was not pleasant. This was not a pleasant thing. I said, ‘You gotta be kidding’ to the doctor, ‘You gotta be kidding,'” the president recalled.

He continued:

Up your nose and then we hang a right and it goes down here. And then we’ll wiggle it around here under your eye, and then we’ll pull it out and we’ll say, I said, ‘No, there’s no way that can happen. Is that the way it goes? You’re sure?’ This was a very unpleasant test. And then I was tested a few weeks later with the new test that just came out, the Abbott, where they just touch your nose basically,  and they put it in a machine. Literally a few minutes later they tell you if you’re fine. I was lucky in both cases.

Friday, Dr. Anthony Fauci said there were more than enough coronavirus tests for states to safely begin phase one of reopening the country, according to Breitbart News.

However, he also noted that despite the importance of testing, it was not the only part of the battle against the virus.

“Testing is an important part of a multi-faceted way that we are going to control and ultimately end this outbreak,” he continued.

Saturday, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported 690,714 total cases of the disease in the United States.

At the briefing, President Trump said he knew how damaging the disease could be to citizens, but added that the tests had “really gotten better and better and better as we go along.”
